249 Manatees Party at Manatee Lagoon
Greetings! – here’s some more manatee mania news for you! These last few days in February have been much colder in Florida than normal. As a result, manatees have quickly gathered in Florida’s naturally warm springs and power plant discharge areas to keep warm.
One of these beloved areas is in Palm Beach County where Manatee Lagoon is located.
On Tuesday morning, February 3, 2026 the temperatures in West Palm Beach, where Manatee Lagoon is located, went below freezing. And those who visited this awesome facility quicky learned that there were over 200 gentle giants doing their very best to keep warm. And the manatees knew that the naturally warm-water discharge from Florida Power and Light’s generators kept the water very warm!
These threatened sea cows are becoming more and more popular around the globe! And now that Florida temperatures are well below normal, this is the perfect time to visit manatees. Manatee Lagoon is an FLP – Eco Discovery Center®, where adults and children can learn about these gentle giants also known as marine mammals. In fact, you can find a large selection of Kobee Manatee® children’s educational books in their gift shop!
